WSUS server Windows 20H2 detect and report
Please,
update WSUS and Update agents to correctly show new 19.042.572 (20H2)in WSUS management console. Need it for Inventory and Esset management. Thanx :D45 votes -
Add build number to WSUS
WSUS does not show the build number of the OS. If you add "Version" to the overview, the version of "Windows Update Engine" shows up. Because 1903, 1909, 2004 and 20H2 use the same Windows Update Engine, the number stays the same.
We want to see the build number of the OS versions! And not the Windows Update Engine version!
20H2 should show up as 19042.572 and not as 19041.546!

Enable KDC Proxy Service outside of RD Gateway
Currently to be able to use the KDC proxy you need to enable the RD Gateway, but the use of KDC Proxy is needed outside of RD Applications. Please add the option to enable the KDC Proxy as a stand alone feature.

Deliver Edge Updates through WSUS on time
Hi Microsoft.
As you might be aware of, edge has different deployment channels, WSUS being one of them. However, while I may always download the current version of edge manually, WSUS delivers it always only a few days later. The update catalogue gets the current update at the same time as WSUS - too late. Browsers are security critical, don't leave WSUS customers behind.

Windows Desktop client list of connections instead of icons
In the Windows Desktop client (Remote Desktop for WVD), there appears to be a limit of 15 characters in a connection name before it gets truncated and ... is added. This causes names to be indistinguishable if they are long, and a primary descriptor is at the end. For example:
CompanyName-Department-Prod-EastUS
CompanyName-Department-Prod-WestUS
CompanyName-Department-Prod-NorEuro
CompanyName-Department-Dev-SouthEast
etc...The only way to see the available connections is by icon. Add functionality in the Windows Desktop client for list view, and functionality to configure a default.

allow UDP tracert because Verizon has done something with their network and your current Tracert only shows 2 hops.
Currently Tracert only shows 2 hops on Verizon Fios networks. There were many more before they changed their settings. UDP traceroute on Linux and Unix have no problem. Change your tracert to allow configuration for UDP rather than ICMP. It's hard to use current tracert to determine what's wrong when most of the hops don't show up.

Allow us to hard set network location profile
Network Location Awareness is very useful feature on desktops. Particularly in the current climate of people taking machines home, having them detect "Public" networks is useful.
However, it is nearly unheard of for a Windows Server to be picked up and taken to an untrusted network. Instead of the benefits of this feature, there are many reasons wherein a server may decide it's in a public network and firewall itself from access. This will, for example, prevent a file server sharing files, or an Exchange server accepting email. If this occurs to Domain Controllers, it will trigger all other servers…

import list of machines into remote desktop (windows store)
In remote desktop connection manager you were able to import a list of servers to use. I would love to see that feature added to the remote desktop store app.

Tree command line - flag to respect .ignore files
Tree is a nice tool. When generating a tree that contains development code, there will be folders like bin/debug, obj/debug and npm (node_modules) packages. Those folders can create unnecessary noise to the tree output.
It would be nice if it was possible to instruct to tree to ignore certain folders.
I haven't fully thought about it, but thought of the .ignore files like .gitignore, .tfignore, etc. These .ignore files are pretty standard.
Maybe a .treeignore would be nice too.
I was thinking along the lines of:
tree /i : (init) create a %USERPROFILE%.treeignore file "standard" and popular .ignore files of…

add clipboard history feature to Windows Server OR a password manager
I want to have sort of security for "pasting" passwords into legacy apps, from the GUI.
So was surprised that Windows Server 2019 does not have this feature yet of clipboard history just like Windows 10.
Or maybe a password manager with a safe delete after a timeout
I realize it might be anyway a security problem with scripts and stuff.. anyway !7 votes -
