Fix update KB4552940 for Server 2008 R2 as it breaks Server Backup
The problem is that server backup will only show a status of set up/configured after running a successful backup despite "webadmin get versions" properly showing the list of backups.
After installing KB4552940 as part of the Extended Security Update for Windows Server 2008 R2 the wbengine.exe in the system32 folder is updated. What happens due to this is that the Microsoft-Windows-Backup service is unable to log Event 4 "The backup operation has finished successfully" & Event 14 "The backup operation has completed" to the Eventlog. After creating an Event Trace Session what you will see for these events is "The…

Impersonate a client after authentication required for Service Accounts
We're having issues with IIS 10.0.17763.1, if you want to use a domain service account as the identity on a web site then that web site as stated here that needs to be granted "Impersonate a client after authentication" in the user rights assignment in the local security policy ...
...failing to do so results in 500 errors on static content...
The main issue with this is what does setting a custom account for the identity of the Application Pool have to do with Impersonation? At best it's misleading. We not using impersonation, we're simply changing the Application Pool…

the Server Core App Compat FOD should be available to download with Patches
When trying to cook up an Image for our cloud deployments on Windows Server Core 20H2 with the Server Core App Compat FOD
we are starting with a Nov 2020 Patched windows Core SAC image, and then we are trying to add the App Compat FOD.But after installing the App Compat FOD, the Get-updates want us to also reinstall the Nov 2020 15 GB patch
It seems that the installation of the App Compat FOD , installs old libraries , and then even if that OS is patched, now a new OS patch has to be installed.
this is…

Android RD Client on Chrome OS with Multiple Monitors
This bug is in the Android RD Client and RD Client 8. The problem is exposed by running either client on Chrome OS with multiple monitors. When running under this configuration, the display resolution does not ever match the resolution of the external display, even when the RD Client window is moved to the external display and even when attempting to use custom resolutions. In fact, the mouse pointer is off because the mouse pointer assumes the larger external display resolution for its x,y location and the actual image from the remote computer is much smaller, shoved in to the…

RSAT on Windows 10 2004
We have search the Web and cannot install RSAT on this OS. nothing works. even after tearing holes in our security , we have fiddled and broken WSUS. and still we cannot get the RSAT tools installed.
We have the stand alone installer, we have tried the option feature approach. It simply will not install because we have a WSUS server. The end game over thats all folk, go back Windows 10 1809 so that you can work.6 votes -
BUG with Set-ClusterLog -Size and the FailoverClustering_Diagnostic log
Trying to set the cluster log size via Set-ClusterLog will cause the FailoverClustering_Diagnostic event log maximum size to balloon to 18014398507384832KB. That is 18014 PB!
We have two separate Server 2019 Hyper-V Clusters that this affected. A MSFT employee on the Q&A site confirmed this also happened in her test environment.

not work well with samsung tab s7 pen
this app work very well with touch but in galaxy tab s7, in contrast to galaxy note 10.1 [2013 i guess] the pen do not work well with apps in windows. for example in onenote, you can not draw anything with this pen but in note 10.1 for that year, it work well and windows can figure out the difference between pen and touch, but in tab s7, NO.
I hope you fix this1 vote -
Latin character not rendered properly
I am having trouble seeing Latin characters when using NotePad and WordPad in Win Server 2012 R2. The character in question is a Latin Small Letter Insular T (Ꞇ). I am RDP'ing into a 2012 server and have the Ꞇ in my clipboard from my local machine. When I paste the character into Notepad, it comes up as a rectangle no matter what font I choose in Notepad. Seems like the character is not supported on the server.

Update 10.2.1646.0 broke the app.
I just received update 10.2.1646.0 from the store this morning and now every time I login to a remote desktop it freezes after about 30-60 seconds and has to be restarted. Needless to say, pretty unusable.

Remote Desktop app suddenly is gone
While working in Windows 10, and having 3 open RDP sessions on various servers, the Remote Desktop app and it's 3 open RDP windows are suddenly gone.
I am also using Windows desktops and use CTRL+WIN arrow left/right to switch between them. To avoid issues for that, I switched the RDP app settings to use shortcut only from Local PC.

Can't use RDS with a Microsoft account linked computer.
Pretty self explanatory. Local accounts work, but once you switch to a Microsoft account it just doesn't accept any username or password. (EX: email and ms, email and pin, username and pin, username and ms password, username and local password, email and local password, ETC.)

Disk Management under a non-domain account cannot detach VHDs on network shares
To reproduce:
1) Run Disk Management as a user that both:
- is a local admin, and
- has domain credentials to access some network share2) "Attach VHD", choose a .vhdx file stored on a network share.
3) Run Disk Management as a user that both:
- is a local admin, and
- does not have domain credentials4) Right-click the VHD's item in the Disk list, click "Detach VHD"
Observe that a dialog pops up reporting the UNC path to the VHD file, which is of course already a bad sign.
Click OK.
Observe that an dialog pops…2 votes
