Please take a few minutes to submit your idea in the one of the forums available on the right or vote up an idea submitted by another Windows Server customer. All of the feedback you share in these forums is monitored and reviewed by the Microsoft engineering teams responsible for building Windows Server. Suggestions can apply to both released and Technical Preview versions of Windows Server.

Important:

1. Remote Desktop Services (RDS)-related feedback must be provided in their UV site: https://remotedesktop.uservoice.com/forums/266795-remote-desktop-services-for-enterprises

2. Requests for feature changes around the end-user experience, such as desktop shell, start menu, individual consumer apps, etc. must be provided through the Windows 10 Feedback Hub tool. We have no ownership of these types of non-Windows Server components.

3. This forum (General Feedback) is used for any broad feedback related to Windows Server. Feedback for specific areas like Storage, Networking, Virtualization, Nano Server, etc., should be provided in one of the forums available on the right. It is not for bug filings. 1. Fix SourceAddress bug in Test-NetConnection cmdlet

Test-NetConnection does not ignore any IP that is marked SkipAsSource=True when showing the SourceAddress in the result. It will consider whatever IP is closest to the gateway address to be the source address even if that IP has SkipAsSource=true.

For example, given these IP bindings and a gateway address of 10.10.10.1, the SourceAddress should be 10.10.10.33 because it is the lowest address with SkipAsSource=False

    • Don't force the use of a hypervisor video adapter when you have an actual GPU or vGPU attached.

We pay $2k a month for an NVIDIA vGPU instance only to have DX Diag force us to a Microsoft Basic Display adapter.

      End this.

      • include a fully functioning command line print client which will print to a shared windows printer

include a fully functioning command line print client which will print to a shared windows printer, or a LPD server

We have the need to send PDFs to a printer via LPD - or some command line - during batch processing. The lpr command included in windows doesn't have the options to force jobs to print duplex. The print command is only for text jobs.
The printer understands PDFs natively... but we have no way of adding required control items on its way there.

        • Outlook: reduce mails during holidays and longer out off office periods; sender gets back the e-mail.

When on holiday or during longer out of office periods Outlook-inboxes become overcrowded. Back at work there is a lot of work, just opening those e-mails. Very often you don't need to react anymore.
Outlook automatic answers tell senders what is the reason of absence and give indications about when you are present again.
E-mail-senders notice only that there will be an out of office reply, but can't see what's the reason and the period of out of office. This is too little information for helping you to decide sending the massage or not.

My suggestions: when making an out…

          • Please allocate more space to the C: drive when upgrading to Windows 10. I don't need a secondary partition.

I have a lot of space I cannot use because you partitioned only 116 GB of space to my C drive on a 900 GB hard disk drive. Because the unallocated space is not contiguous to the C drive I cannot extend the C drive to include the additional space. This causes frequent occurrences of lack of disk space when operating the comptuer. Can you please fix this.

                • set a reminder in day/time clock

We have a clock (date/time) on every Windows system. I would like to see a reminder clock. Currently scheduling a task in a scheduler is tedious process. See if you like it.

                        • Behavior when task bar is at the top.

Still a problem with 2016 Server. This has been an issue for as long as Windows has existed. When the task bar is positioned at the top of the desktop, some title bars, like cmd and PowerShell, hide under the task bar. No, I do not use auto-hide nor will I, That is not a solution. The solution is for the open window to be aware that the task bar is there, and not position itself at the top of the desktop, under the task bar.

Continue support and updates for Advanced Group Policy Management. Our company uses AGPM extensively and would like to see future enhancements and support continued. If there is a replacement Microsoft product, it doesn't seem to be found.

                              • How does one grant a specific user the privilege to change the system ip address, or install a new printer for example.

Just read a page on how to implement least-privilege concept in windows , however I think what really needs to be addressed is how to grant users the ability to perform certain tasks without using 3rd party products. For instance it is fairly trivial to allow users to run a particular program and prevent others from running it simply by modifying the ACL on the .exe. However, how would one accomplish some of the other tasks that might be required of particular users without granting them Administrator privs, like changing an IP address or installing a new printer.

                                      • Extranet Smart Lockout featre (ADFS Windows Server 2016)

                                        Hi,

In terms of the Extranet Smart Lockout featre (ADFS Windows Server 2016), it would be really good if, instead of merely locking out users' acocunts whom are the suspected target of a brute force attack, to banning the source IP of the attack instead.

This could operate in a similar fashion to the Linux-based fail2ban whereby an offending IP address gets put in 'jail' for a timeout threshold.

I think this is a better option than punishing the user (who is locked out as result of brute force attempt that is out of their control).
