Please take a few minutes to submit your idea in the one of the forums available on the right or vote up an idea submitted by another Windows Server customer. All of the feedback you share in these forums is monitored and reviewed by the Microsoft engineering teams responsible for building Windows Server. Suggestions can apply to both released and Technical Preview versions of Windows Server.

1. Remote Desktop Services (RDS)-related feedback must be provided in their UV site: https://remotedesktop.uservoice.com/forums/266795-remote-desktop-services-for-enterprises

2. Requests for feature changes around the end-user experience, such as desktop shell, start menu, individual consumer apps, etc. must be provided through the Windows 10 Feedback Hub tool. We have no ownership of these types of non-Windows Server components.

3. This forum (General Feedback) is used for any broad feedback related to Windows Server. Feedback for specific areas like Storage, Networking, Virtualization, Nano Server, etc., should be provided in one of the forums available on the right. It is not for bug filings. 1. Is this a Permission-Bug in Windows Firewall Logging?

    #Windows Firewall Log BUG

New Installed Server With 2016 Standard. Patched and up2date with June-2019 CU.
Created a new Domain with itself beeing the first domaincontroler. Created a GPO to activate Windows Firewall and enable Logging of DROP and ALLOW to pfirewall-domain.log in the default-path.

    What happens?
The Log can´t be written, no access denied. Sysinternals Procmon shows no "Access Denied". Shows a few creates but does not write.

  2. get-dhcpserverv4reservation command bug

    get-dhcpserverv4reservation command

    when use
    Get-DhcpServerv4Reservation -ScopeId $ScopeId -ComputerName $DHCPServer -ClientId $ClientId
it returns the leased (not reserved) client IP if the ClientID exists and is active in the given scope
There is a workaround = collect all reservations for the given scope and search in the result against ClientID

  3. Windows Server 2019 RDS Remote Apps Freeze/Disconnect

When using LAPS UI or Server Manager which I believe these are .NET applications with RDS Remote Apps the right-click context menus or an admin prompt freeze the RemoteApp session and eventually disconnect. This issue is not present in Server 2016 and I assume this has something to do with the way RemoteApps works in 2019

  6. Prevent Update nag firing when you clink in to the update screen

When updates are pending on our Server 2016 estate handled by WSUS we should get a prompt to advise that updates are pending. This is all fair and well if you aren't particularly going in to do the updates.

If you are straight on the box and going into updates as soon as you click Update and security the update nag fires taking over the screen only to have the option to show the updates that are locked in the background that I already navigated to. Clearly this is not the expected behaviour and hopefully is just the OS going…

  8. mprddm.dll

The pppoe in rras is broken, there are multiple reports on this, with 'patched' Windows server DLLs floating around. This is unacceptable, and these issues have even persisted from 2012 to the current 2019.
    Please advise.

  9. Robocopy - Needs Creation Date Functionality

Posted to Bug as all other robocopy posts have been placed here.

It is fairly common for organisations to have a temporary area accessible by all staff to allow a common area to access files. For these type of temporary areas, some sort of scheduled cleaning regime needs to be in place so that files older than a certain number of days are automatically removed.

A common cleaning approach is to move files past a nominated age to a staging folder and then empty the staging folder. Unfortunately robocopy's MINAGE switch operates on Modified Date that makes it non-functional for…

  10. robocopy /mt causes incorrect summary for copied and skipped files

Issue relating to robocopy is detailed here:
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/exchange/en-US/cd9b83c1-bd01-41ee-8f56-ea9db4e598bb/robocopy-with-mt-switch-seems-to-show-different-summary-info-why?forum=winserverfiles&prof=required

When using the /MT to a directory that already exists the files are not skipped. This is the opposite behavior to what happens without the /MT flag. This issue is picked up reviewing the summary.

  12. SeShutdownPrivelege, SeUndockPrivelege, and SeTimeZonePrivelege not added to Administrators Group... only for Built-in Admin

SeShutdownPrivelege, SeUndockPrivelege, and SeTimeZonePrivelege are not added to Administrators Group... only for Built-in Admin. This makes it so setting the timezone via the timedate.cpl in Server Core impossible if logged in as Domain Admin. This also makes ExitWindowsEx function in MSVC unusable on 2019.

Previously, these worked on 2016. A workaround is to add the user (or users group) account via the Security Policy for User Rights Assessment in gpedit.msc.

  13. [Microsoft Remote Desktop for Mac] Display freezes after first frame

I am connecting to a VirtualBox VM exposed via VRDP. The first frame loads but then it stops. Mouse and Keyboard events are still sent to the VM (I can see things happen in the preview window), but the screen on MS Remote Desktop never updates.

  14. Respect Robocopy /NP switch when /MT switch is in use

First reported in 2009, this issue documented and acknowledged in the following TechNet thread, but doesn't seem to be a topic in this forum.

    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/e8c38fe1-df36-4dfc-8dd5-50613b1a7984/robocopys-mt-option-disables-np-option?forum=w7itprogeneral

Essentially you can use the /NP commmand to suppress progress percentages from the output, but it's not respected when you specify the /MT parameter to perform a multi-threaded operation, and only percentages are returned.

  15. nanoserver:1809 inside docker does not rely CTRL_SHUTDOWN_EVENT

When ever you run an application inside a container built on nanoserver:1809 they don't receive CTRL_SHUTDOWN_EVENT that happens when the container stopped.
Same issue does not happen with Windows Server Core

  16. Failed to import VM with virtual disk extension vhdx

I have exported VMs with virtual disk extension vhdx created on Windows 10 1809 but can't import them on multiple Windows 10 versions. I exported VM with vhd extension and successfully imported on the sames systems that had issue with vhdx file.

  17. 2019 HyperV: Upgrade Configuration Version breaks VMs with Checkpoints

it's a shame that M$ does not test basic functions like this before deploying SW like the Windows 2019 Server: We have a 2019 Server with HyperV. One VM uses the VM-Configuration 5.0 and has two Checkpoints. If "Upgrade Configuration Version" is called, then HyperV creates one VM for each Checkpoint.

Is it that hard to have a test case:
"Upgrade Hyper-V Configuration using a VM containing at least 2 Checkpoints"?

20 years ago, it was OK to deploy such bugs.
    Today… it's a shame.

  18. MS DNS does not validate manual entries for RFC compliance

When copying and pasting a CNAME in to MS DNS I accidentally got in a trailing space in the text selection. Even after verifying that spaces are not valid characters, DNS still permitted its use.

  19. "Windows Update Cleanup 1.00 MB" bug of Windows Server 2016

Recently, I found "Windows Update Cleanup 1.00 MB" in Disk Cleanup (cleanmgr) Tool of Windows Server 2016 with Desktop Experience. I know of another bug that is incorrectly displayed as 3.55 TB, but I found this new 1.00MB bug on two machines (Hyper-V VM and Azure VM). I selected this item on my Hyper-V VM and delete start, it will take a day or more to finally complete, and about 30GB of space will be come back. That's good news, but 1.00 MB display is bug, and the time taken to delete is unusual. I do not have the courage…
