All of the feedback you share in these forums is monitored and reviewed by the Microsoft engineering teams responsible for building Windows Server. Suggestions can apply to both released and Technical Preview versions of Windows Server.

Important:

1. Remote Desktop Services (RDS)-related feedback must be provided in their UV site: https://remotedesktop.uservoice.com/forums/266795-remote-desktop-services-for-enterprises

2. Requests for feature changes around the end-user experience, such as desktop shell, start menu, individual consumer apps, etc. must be provided through the Windows 10 Feedback Hub tool. We have no ownership of these types of non-Windows Server components.

  1. Add ability to use different account for gateway server than remote desktop

My organization uses admin accounts for logging into servers, and normal accounts for logging into Remote Gateways. It seems this app does not support using different accounts for a connection that needs to connect via a gateway. This prevents my organization from using this app, as the Win32 version built-in to Windows allows for this.

  2. import list of machines into remote desktop (windows store)

In remote desktop connection manager you were able to import a list of servers to use. I would love to see that feature added to the remote desktop store app.

  3. msrdc No Indication double click on jump box icon is doing anything

When using the MSRDC.exe app it shows a set of jump box icons. When you double click one it starts to connect to a WVD server but there is zero indication anything is happening. Please provide an instant splash screen or hour glass at least so the user knows the double click was received.

  5. Make Deduplication powershell commands compatible with Powershell Core

Right now when trying to use commands like Get-DedupStatus or Get-DedupVolume from PowerShell Core - the output is incorrect, i.e. content of some tables aren't displayed. If before using I load the module via Import-Module -SkipEditionCheck Deduplication, it starts working fine.

Please mark the module as compatible with PowerShell Core and/or test if it is actually compatible!

  6. SMBv1 client or server not used for 15 days, automatically uninstalls - ASK US FIRST

This is a really annoying feature. It's a very bad idea. Please stop Win.10 from doing this (at least ASK us before uninstalling - who's the idiot that thought this up - we don't use every feature every 15 days): "Windows 10 Home and Windows 10 Professional still contain the SMBv1 client by default after a clean installation. If the SMBv1 client is not used for 15 days in total (excluding the computer being turned off), it automatically uninstalls itself." This is wasting a lot of our time.

  7. ADFS Farm install

    Please update documentation to state
"When installing an ADFS farm, the PDC emulator must be contactable"

Otherwise the install will fail with a generic error. Try it and yo will see.

  8. Repair the bug in Microsoft Access Database engine 2010

The KB4484126 and KB4484238 introduce a critical bug in Microsoft Access Database engine 2010.
On Windows Server 2012, IIS App Pools running Access MDB databases are constantly crashing with these KB installed.
Experiences on many production-level websites, running under 32-bit App Pools.
Once these KB's are removed, IIS App Pools stop crashing, and are back to a normal state.
The cure is worse than the CVE cause.

  10. allow the ADFS service to start with bad certificate

If the certificate does not auto-renew or auto-renew fails you are stuck!
You can not run any powershell commands against adfs and you can not run the adfs manager because the service won't start so you are unable to resolve the issue and have to call Ms support.

  12. Bring Back MultiPoint In Wake of COVID Pandemic to *Some* Server or Win 10 Pro SKU

I feel this is a feature that barely missed the point where it would really take off. And especially with the COVID pandemic, you may want to have a few work desks share a really powerful system - each cubicle isolated with one system in the middle.

I do hope Microsoft sees the potential with massive core counts today, and brings it back - those core counts really took off with Threadripper... right after this feature was ripped out.

RDP and Azure don't help with rendering systems where 1-2 people at 4-5 desks might need to render at once, but…

  13. ADFS 2019 DirectoryProperties disable autodiscover

    Hello,
for ADFS 2019, there is a new cmdlet added, that autodiscovers the UPN's in the domain. This also discovers domains to which it doesn't have permission and thus gives errors in the eventlog.

An option should exist to disable autodiscovery and only configure UPN's manually.

  15. ADFS Export/Import Relying Party Trusts

Get-ADFSRelyingPartyTrust should export a completed powershell script for Add-ADFSRelyingPartyTrust, this will solve your import issue, and make it easy for people to migrate servers, or even automate relying party migrations.

  17. Robocopy - logging switch to log only errors or skipped files/folders

I use Robocopy and hate parsing the logs for errors/skipped items. It would be really cool if there was a "log errors/skips only" switch! Or, even better, log errors/skips only to a 2nd log file in addition to the complete "normal" log file.

  18. Make the Windows Home Server/Server Essentials 2012/2016 Client Backup Service Available or Open Source

Given that the Server Essentials Feature has now been deprecated and is only available safely until Server 2016 goes out of support, why not make at least the Client Backup Service from the Server Essentials Feature available as an additional cost addon (to make it viable to support) OR make it Open Source so that at least this important feature of WSE can continue. Those alternatives available with the deduplication capabilities included (such as those from Acronis) are simply too costly for home and SOHO users!

  19. klist sessions without exception would be nice: klist. errot: 0xc0000022/-1073741790

klist sessions without exception would be nice:

    klist sessions result
    . error:0xc0000022/-1073741790

yes. if I use an UAC shell this would not happen, but the idead of UAC is not my idea. Microsoft: If writing very secure and needed UAC programs, than test this idea. And this is not a remark for the programers, but for the MANAGER who get a bonus for the idea.
