All of the feedback you share in these forums is monitored and reviewed by the Microsoft engineering teams responsible for building Windows Server. Suggestions can apply to both released and Technical Preview versions of Windows Server.

Important:

1. Remote Desktop Services (RDS)-related feedback must be provided in their UV site: https://remotedesktop.uservoice.com/forums/266795-remote-desktop-services-for-enterprises

2. Requests for feature changes around the end-user experience, such as desktop shell, start menu, individual consumer apps, etc. must be provided through the Windows 10 Feedback Hub tool. We have no ownership of these types of non-Windows Server components.

3. This forum (General Feedback) is used for any broad feedback related to Windows Server. Feedback for specific areas like Storage, Networking, Virtualization, Nano Server, etc., should be provided in one of the forums available on the right. It is not for bug filings. • Initiate SCCM Wake-on-LAN from the Secondary Site Servers/DPs.

Request for Wake-on-LAN (WoL) to be initiated from the Secondary Site Servers and DPs. Currently only the Primary Servers are able to initiate WoL but due to certain security concerns and geographical challenges, multicast and unicast broadcasts is either not permitted or limited. These limitations prevents the Primary Server to wake up clients at remote locations. If WoL traffic is initiated on the Site Servers and DPs, the WoL traffic will remain within their respective local networks while maintaining a security posture by blocking external unicast and multicast traffic.

        • Microsoft Remote Desktop V10 for MAC keyboard changes when laptop sleeps and is brought back up

On my Macbook Pro, since I installed the latest Microsoft Remote Desktop V10, if I put the Mac to sleep and come back, keystrokes change from normal keystrokes to function keys. For instance the "d" key, instead of typing a "d" now toggles the show desktop on and off. In order to get the keyboard back I have to "Sign off" the Remote Desktop and Sign back in. Is there a setting to fix this as this defeats the purpose of using a Remote Desktop to preserve something you are working on.

Mac OS = High Sierra Version 10.13.6.

          Note…

          • Enable Scheduled Jobs/Tasks in Task Scheduler to Run at Log off

Enable Scheduled Jobs/Tasks in Task Scheduler to Run at Log off. Presently due to updates on Server 2008 and higher, against security risk, a scheduled task does not run when the user is logged off. Supposedly due to a "Session 0 Isolation" from the updates.

            • LPD on Windows Server 2016

If there is no LPD what is alternative to this?

              LPD helps for remote printing:

User Computer->Print Server->Another Print Server (with LPD Service listening on port 515 for incoming requests)->Printer

In above architecture assume "Another Print Server (with LPD Service listening on port 515 for incoming requests)" cannot be removed from architecture?

Without LPD how do I achieve the above?

              • A simple way to manage Hyper-V checkpoints?

I am racking my brain over the complicated style Hyper-V utilizes checkpoints.
I just want to be able to delete all checkpoints for a vm so I can expand the hard disk, but I do not see any simple way of achieving this.
Turning off the vm still leaves the message under Settings informing you that you cannot edit the Hard Disk because there are checkpoints existing.
I cannot delete the checkpoints from their location because Hyper-V is running my other VMs.

                    • Windows Server 2019 Search function doesn't work without Internet connection

Search function is not working when Server 2019 is not connected to internet. I'm not getting any search results when I search after installed programs from start menu. When I connect the server to Internet everything is fine. Sometimes it works when i go back to offline mode until I reboot server again. We have lots of offline servers so I hope you can fix this problem before we start to migrate to Sever 2019.

                      • Wrong Pg info displayed in MS Word.

Ever since I’ve moved to the Skip Ahead builds (10.0.18214.1000 & the earlier one), MS-Word is reporting incorrect page # for the doc.

Here in page # reflected for Current & Total pages is incorrect.

                        • missing primary boot drive

Primary boot drive failed in win10. Doesn't appear when using diskpart list volumes. 2nd drive (d) appears as C: drive. Believe partitions damaged or lost and if fixed could see the original boot disk C: again. Booted from a USB to get CMd line. But need instructions how to launch disk MGMT.msc. commands I would normally use in powershell or on server not working on win 10 pro on laptop. It is difficult to find instructions on how to get control panel, disk mgt, network etc launched from CMD.

                            • Don't force the use of a hypervisor video adapter when you have an actual GPU or vGPU attached.

We pay $2k a month for an NVIDIA vGPU instance only to have DX Diag force us to a Microsoft Basic Display adapter.

                              End this.

                                • Routing traffice based on port

Assume a scenario where we have 2 NICs, eth1 and eth2. eth1 has the IP address 1.1.1.1 and eth2 has 2.2.2.2. Using 1.1.1.254 as gateway would route all Internet traffic through eth1, while having 2.2.2.254 as gateway would route traffic through eth2.

Assume we want traffic to IP address 5.5.5.5 and port 80 to be processed by one route using eth1, while traffic to the same IP address on port 443 should be processed by route using eth2.

In linux we have this ability by using route tables and iptables

ip route add table 10 0.0.0.0/0 via 1.1.1.254
                                  ip route…

                                  • Windows Server 2016 updates take over an hour, unacceptable!

Updates in Server2012 and even Server2008 are much quicker and you at least get a gauge as to how long.

                                    • Windows Admin Center add feature for Microsoft Remote Assistance for desktop

RDP is already a feature. If you were looking to assist users that had an active session on a machine and could implement the Offer Remote Assistance from inside the WAC with a button push, it'd make life easier.

                                      • Allow PowerShell scripts to run directly in Scheduled Tasks

Please allow to use PowerShell scripts directly within Scheduled Tasks.

An update should offer this functionality for all current supported server versions.

                                        • Upgrade a server running core to the next version. Example 1709 to 1803

Please post the methods to upgrade Short Term Service Branch Servers. If we are going to be living with these servers for less then 18 months we need to understand the methods for upgrades.
