  1. vmrs

give option to disable VMRS file in expense to lose quick migration. in summary: i do not want allocate disk for the memory i allocate to guest VM.
Please update the docs to mention the need for extra space for VMRS files.

    • VSS Hyper-V VM bug

There is a bug, uncovered when using Veeam backup software which they describe as -

"Application-aware processing of Active Directory domain controllers running on guest OS other than Windows Server 2016 fails with the “Failed to create VM recovery checkpoint” error (32770). This is a Hyper-V 2016 issue that Microsoft is planning to address in the future update."

Any news on a fix for this would be great.

      • Add basic disk and network usage counters in console

CPU counter is useful, but I more often want to see whether the VM is using a lot of disk access. Adding a column to Hyper-V console for this, even if it only updates every 30 secs, would give me a better idea of what machine is using the disk most.

        • no .indexof in

Microsoft.HyperV.PowerShell.VMSwitch is missing IndexOf method, which makes it tricky to get an index number.

You'll have to pass it to a Customobject, and deserialize the information, if you wanna have any chance of using this.

          • Mistake on Japan "Resume-VMReplication" website

Hi You have a mistake on the bottom of the "Resume-VMReplication" website(japan version). The last example for resuming replication for all the VMs are wrong. It should be "resume-VMreplication *" instead of "Resume-Replication *"

            • LACP in Virtual Environment

              Hi,

Please allow LACP configurations for NIC teaming in virtual environments. This is a possible solution. The only allowed option is "Switch Independent", which is limiting to me. I run LACP configurations in my VMware environment for all my 2012R2 servers now, no issues from this design. Allow me to do this again please.

              Thanks,
              Nick

              • Hyper-V should support VMware Parallels style fullscreen VM as a Windows desktop

In VMWare Parallels on Mac, we have the option of performing a shortcut to jump directly into a VM on a different desktop.

In Windows 10, we now have multiple desktop support, which is wonderful! However if we full-screen a VM, we can't use our normal hotkey to go back to the parent windows desktop. Instead, those hotkeys are interpretted by the full-screen VM.

I think it would be ideal to be able to full-screen a VM and still slide out to my parent desktop. This should mirror the functionality of VMware Parallels on Mac.

                  • Enable Network Selection for Storage Migration

There should be a way to specify a Network to use for Storage Migrations, just like for Live Migrations. If you are not using SMB for your cluster storage, then the ability to specify the network for storage migrations of VMs would be handy so you don't saturate the management network.

                    • HyperV and HAXM should not be mutually exclusive

Mobile developers want to use emulators, amongst other tech like containers, from different vendors. Currently, some of the emulators (Windows) are based on HyperV and some other (Google) are based on HAXM. This makes it almost impossible to do cross-platform development on Windows.

Running the RTM (?) version of Windows Server 2016 in vSphere 6.0, I have some problems.

When using hot add CPU it crashes or freezes the VM. CPU hot add is supported both by VMware and Microsoft and works flawless in production for 2008 R2 and 2012 R2.

I tried to open a case with VMware but got an nonsense answer, not sure if it a VMware or Windows issue.

VM is installed by VMware best practices, latest VMware tools etc. Tried to reinstall with different virtual hardware etc without any impact.

When hot add CPU from 1 -> 2…

                        • add storage array VMware vVol 2.0 support

CSV cluster is too complex and difficult to mantain. Add support for vVol 2.0 as VMware is doing with storage vendors to have granualar volumes, replication, etc

                            • The ability to give a description for Hyper-V VMs

Currently the manager for the Hyper-V system only allows you to give a name for the virtual machine.

This may not always be descriptive and/or user friendly. Being able to give a description to Hyper-V virtual machines and have these optionally included with the import/export functions.

Would allow for useful information to be able to be included with the detailing about the software installed as well as other info.

In addition it would be useful for software distributors which provide their software as VMs.

Is there any chance to have Hyper-V Replica to work over IP address instead of NETBIOS/FQDN?
Without messing with DNS / hosts file (%windir%\system32\drivers\etc).
Scenario: Sending replica traffic over dedicated network.
Network Constraint (control which networks HR runs upon, based on network interface).
                                Thanks!

I would love beeing able to create folders in Hyper-V manager, so that I can view my "Test Environment", my "VMs for Customer" or my "Show Direct Access" virtual maschines. I the moment I can only user appropriate names for my VMs.

BUG: the DPI setting on Win10Pro client is not passed through to Win10Ent VM. Note that DPI setting can be passed thru if RemoteFX is disabled.

It would be nice to have Live (Storage) Migration made independent of AD, and use for example certificate-based authentication between the hosts.

                                      • Hyper-V export virtual machine, add the option to exclude the disks from export!

Rebuilding hyper-v virtual machines on a different server could be done with export and import. Now the whole virtual machine gets exported including the disks. So you get a compleet copy this results in twice the disks space needed. but in case of remote attached storage it is not necessaire to export the disks also. So why not add the option to exclude the disks from the export. They will be attached to the new system from the shared storage device and you can add them later to the imported VM systems.

                                        • Check MAC Address before create Teaming

I found a strange problem with a host WS2012R2 (HP Proliant DL 380 g9 with 1 NIC 4 ports) during Teaming creation. For an astral reason, when I create a team, Windows assign the same MAC Address to Team NIC and also to Hyper-V Virtual Switch; the result is the total fail of everything.

Why Windows Server 2012 R2 hasn’t a pre-check task to understand both NIC have the same MAC Address? Much better is check the MAC Address of the entire host.
