  1. Allow host to run other hypervisor (via Nested virtualization)

Currently Hyper-V locks out other virtualization apps when installed on host. But it is also said that Hyper-V upon installation essentially makes a "host" just another (although privileged) guest. Likewise, we know that nested VMs are supported for a while now. And I tested, it does support other 3rd party virtualization software in a guest.

So why not allow (even if only via Powershell) option to enable "nested" for a host OS as well?

Current workaround is : Windows host with Hyper-V -> Windows guest VM for which nesting was enabled -> 3rd party hypervisor -> <something running in it>

  2. Put RemoteFx or equivalent back into Server 2019 for RDSH

    https://www.microsoftpartnercommunity.com/t5/Feedback-Support-Discussions/Where-are-the-quot-new-graphics-acceleration-options-for/m-p/26491#M1093

Where are the "new graphics acceleration options for virtualized environments"?
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/get-started/windows-server-1803-removed-features

Your article promises new graphics acceleration options to replace Remotefx. Where are they? Discrete Device Assignment is not an option for us as the hardware needed to run this is in excess of $20,000 per server and then there are additional per user licensing costs on top of that from the GPU vendor. We were successfully running hyper-v vms with remote desktop session host on Server 2016 and they were running RemoteFX. Now we have Server 2019 and you have deprecated RemoteFX without providing any valid solutions or…

  3. share clipboard between Windows host and Ubuntu guest

It would be really good if you could share the Windows clipboard with a guest Ubuntu machine. In particular, it would make managing passwords much easier.

  4. Logs 18304 and 13002 (Bug).

I am using Windows 10 Pro, version 1909, the same comes enabled by default, use automatic checkpoints, when creating the virtual machine, it generates two logs, with the following IDs 18304 and 13002 in Hyper-V-VMMS.
But it turns out that the logs are not showing up.

  5. Bring back RemoteFX

Please bring back RemoteFX. We dont expect to buy graphic card for each VM to assign it via DDA.

  9. Legacy PCI DDA (Discreet Device Assignment)

I have to use VMWare just because I need to passthrough legacy PCI devices to VM that are 32-bit (for devices that only have 32-bit drives). While this is not a popular thing to do, I don't think it would be "difficult" to do since other hypervisors can offer this feature.

  11. Is Nested virtualization and VGA Passthrough concurrently supported inside hyper-v VMs?

Is Nested virtualization and VGA Passthrough concurrently supported inside hyper-v VMs?

I have successfully passed through a NVIDIA Quadro P2000 inside a GEN 2 hyper-v on Windows Server 2019.
When I try to enable nested virtualization support the VM wont boot.

  12. Hyper-V 2019 - Guest VMs shutdown unexpectedly

When the host server shuts down, a bug in which guest VMs are not automatically shut down occurs in Windows 10 1809 or Windows Server 2019.
It is also a topic in the forum.
Please solve this bug as soon as possible.

  13. Hyper-V Server 2019 is missing the Remote Desktop Virtualization Host feature

Previous versions of Hyper-V Server included the Remote Desktop Virtualization Host (RDVH) feature. Installs from the June 2019 .ISOs don't have this feature.

    "Add-WindowsFeature –Name RDS-Virtualization"

    doesn't work.

Previous versions of Hyper-V Server included the RD Virtualization Host feature for VDI deployments. Please restore this capability.

  14. Backup to affordable cloud (e.g. Wasabi) for offsite protection

Wasabi ( http://www.wasabi.com ) is a very low cost cloud storage that I like to recommend all my customers to use as the repository for offsite backup. Hope it can provide support for this cloud storage, like what Cloudberry ( http://www.cloudberrylab.com ) and CloudBacko ( http://www.cloudbacko.com ) are offering currently.

  15. Start VM during backup

    Current behaviour:
When a backup is running, you can not shutdown or start a VM from the console. (but you can do a shutdown or restart from the guest os)

    The problem:
When a VM stopped, for whatever reason, you have no way to start it again - except by killing the VMMS service or by stopping the backup - both not really acceptable solutions.

Solution: Just let us start a VM when the backup is running.

  16. replication HRL files should be stored on a seperate path

    Current behaviour:
All HRL files are stored on the same path as the vhdx file.

    Problem:
This doubles the write load on this drive; all changes are written to the vhdx and to the hrl, on the same drive, which limit the throughput on this drive for the users. It also doubles damages the SSD's by doubling the writes.

Solution: Store the hrl files on the user defined path, so we can use another array for those files.

  17. Dynamic memory: provide a maximum with virtual memory setting

    Current behaviour:
You are able to set a maximum RAM value for the guest. When the guest needs more than that it will swap to it's own paging file.

    Problems:
When a guest is swapping to it's paging file, this gives a heavy disk load on the disk store where the vhdx is stored, causing all VMs on this store to slow down. It also causes problems with replication, as the pagefile is replicated too.

    Solution:
Add a Virtual memory amount that is added above the maximum RAM amount.

Hyper-V will then provide diskspace as RAM to the VM, but…

  18. Generation 2 machines can't use Host's DVD

A Gen 1 server can use the host's DVD player to install OS (add a DVD player to IDE controller and point it to the physical DVD)

Why can't this option be available on Gen 2 machines as well?

  19. DirectX support for Hyper-V Virtual Graphics Adapter

The graphics adapter lacks certain functionality to run software that relies on DirectX.
For example Kodi won't run returning error 887A0004 - DXGIERRORUNSUPPORTED
AFAIK this indicates that DirectX is not supported.
As on Server 2019 the support for RemoteFX 3D has been deprecated, there seems to be no way to make it work.
This is unacceptable. The graphics Adapter should be enhanced to support this.

  20. Fix Mac Address spoofing in Hyper-V 2019

When we have a virtual router as a VM on Hyper-V 2019 running a setup that requires Mac Address Spoofing to be enabled, then performance is really bad.
We have testet with routers based on Windows Server 2019, Linux and BSD, and the results are the same.
Migrating the same VM's to a Windows Server 2016 node, the problem is gone.

It seems to be a problem related to Hyper-V 2019 "Mac Address Spoofing" function
