  1. Provide native conversion tools

For conversion from vmdk to Hyper-V we had to use external tools.
It is weird that there are no Microsoft tools to provide seamless conversion to Hyper-V. Instead one must rely on 3rd party products.
Provide solutions integrated into VMM to convert and kind of .vmdk or .vdi hasslefree into new Hyper-V guest.

  2. Provide conversion tool to convert generation 1 guests into generation 2 guests

When converting exisiting VMware guests into Hyper-V guests we are not aware of any tool to offer conversion into generation 2 guests.
Hence we are sitting here with generation 1 guests and there is no tool to convert them into generation 2. We are aware ot a Powershell script but this has failed on us.
Provide conversion from within VMM to convert generation 1 guests in generation 2 guests.

  3. Show Topology for host,VM , networking , storage(suchas CSV, SOFS share, local vol) relationship

Please provide a topology tool in mmc or web(WAC), for show the relationship on following view:
1 how host connect networking and storage
This is a great help for many scenario: troubleshooting underlayer problem , tuning performance, even help of planning available or capacity expand.
2 how VMs connect virtual network and data space
This is a great help for many scenario: troubleshooting VM-level problem, hardware maintenance planning etc.
3 how VMs placed to hosts
scenario: VM resource placement optimizing, VM role high available planning or capability expand planning, host maintenance planning.
4 How hosts form cluster and even cluster…

  4. Customizable tags on vm in Hyper-V Manager , Failover-Cluster Manager and windows admin center

Provide a way to allow custom Tags on VMs in Hyper-V Manager or Failover-Cluster Manager, and display or group with it.
Scenario: VM lifecycle infomation, application identification, "owner" identification, deligation to subadmin.etc

  5. Single Backup of VM's with Off State

How about adding a new Boolean attribute to VM's to record whether it has been backed up by the VM host's Backup Server since it enter the "Off" state thus eliminating the need to back it up again. The Backup Server would set the attribute state to "Yes" once it has been backed up in the "Off" state. Once the VM enters the "Running" state the attribute would be reset to "No".

  6. Windows Server 2016 Hyper-V GUI for DDA

I would like to see a GUI set up so that we can find the hardware that we want (PCI Express Devices or USB) and mount them or unmount them via a GUI. This is a lot easier than powershell. Click to mount/unmount hardware from host to VM or vice versa.

More people would use this feature and it would be easier to mount and unmount specific hardware items.

  7. Folders in Hyper-V Manager

I would love beeing able to create folders in Hyper-V manager, so that I can view my "Test Environment", my "VMs for Customer" or my "Show Direct Access" virtual maschines. I the moment I can only user appropriate names for my VMs.

  8. The ability to give a description for Hyper-V VMs

Currently the manager for the Hyper-V system only allows you to give a name for the virtual machine.

This may not always be descriptive and/or user friendly. Being able to give a description to Hyper-V virtual machines and have these optionally included with the import/export functions.

Would allow for useful information to be able to be included with the detailing about the software installed as well as other info.

In addition it would be useful for software distributors which provide their software as VMs.

  10. New integrated UI for Hyper-V

It's one of the most important area where you must working on. We need a new UI for Hyper-V, in particular a new UI with cluster management integrated and also with more functionality, like Performance View and PowerShell history.

  11. Enable PowerShell Direct for Windows 8.1 and Server 2012 R2

PowerShell direct is fantastic feature. We would like to use it with down level guest OS as well (Win 8.1 / WS12R2).

The customers usually upgrade the host more frequently than upgrading the VM which is running the core business App.

    Thanks!

  12. Hyper-V export virtual machine, add the option to exclude the disks from export!

Rebuilding hyper-v virtual machines on a different server could be done with export and import. Now the whole virtual machine gets exported including the disks. So you get a compleet copy this results in twice the disks space needed. but in case of remote attached storage it is not necessaire to export the disks also. So why not add the option to exclude the disks from the export. They will be attached to the new system from the shared storage device and you can add them later to the imported VM systems.

  14. Make HyperV Manager show IOPS.

It would be great if HyperV manager showed IOPs. Right now when we have a noisy host, it is really difficult for us to figure out who it is. We have to pull of System Center and that is always delayed.

  15. Support new-pssession and copy-item -tosession with powershell direct

Powershell direct is great, however it would also be super useful to be able to use it with the diffrent cmdlests that use pssessions. primarily for me, id like to use it with copy-item to copy files directly to and from vms

  17. Import VM with double click on file configuration

I suggest to copy the same function of VMware that allows import of virtual machine with double click on file configuration. This is much better than the classic import procedure, in particular when there are many VMs to import.

  18. Provide a tool to do P2V's, V2V's, and C2C (Cloud 2 Cloud) without having to bring down the server until ready for cut over.

We need a better tool to migrate systems to Hyper V. With the cloud starting to catch on I have customers who want to move work loads from cloud to cloud. This currently very difficult to do without some middleware cloud to do the conversions. Would be nice to be able to convert to and from physical, virtual, or clouds regardless of provider.

  20. Import-VM should take a look also into the root folder for VHDs

During import process, Import-VM script looks into "Virtual Hard Disks" folder for VHDs. But when you create VM with SC VMM, it puts disks into the root of VM folder. So during recovery VHDs needs to be moved into Virtual Hard Disks folder manually. It would be great if import-vm would look also into the root of VM folder.
