  1. Hyper-V export virtual machine, add the option to exclude the disks from export!

Rebuilding hyper-v virtual machines on a different server could be done with export and import. Now the whole virtual machine gets exported including the disks. So you get a compleet copy this results in twice the disks space needed. but in case of remote attached storage it is not necessaire to export the disks also. So why not add the option to exclude the disks from the export. They will be attached to the new system from the shared storage device and you can add them later to the imported VM systems.

  2. Hyper-V Replica using IP Address instead of NETBIOS/FQDN

Is there any chance to have Hyper-V Replica to work over IP address instead of NETBIOS/FQDN?
Without messing with DNS / hosts file (%windir%\system32\drivers\etc).
Scenario: Sending replica traffic over dedicated network.
Network Constraint (control which networks HR runs upon, based on network interface).
    Thanks!

  3. Domain-less Live Migration

It would be nice to have Live (Storage) Migration made independent of AD, and use for example certificate-based authentication between the hosts.

  4. VM VLAN defined at vswitch port level

It is more clear the vmware strategy to create portgroups on a vswitch that specifies the VLAN. All VMs connected to that portgroup are connected to same VLAN.

What is the point on defining per VM, you are allowing users to create VM and they have to guess what is the VLAN id.

Please review this and allow move VLAN VM definition to the vswitch.

  5. All VM network cards have the same Friendly Name "Network Adapter"

Same as you do with IDE controller 0, 1,2 and other devices.

Network Adapters should have different Names like

    Network Adapter 0
    Network Adapter 1
    etc..

  6. Support of VF & PF SR-IOV extensions with Discrete Device Assignment

Please include support for both Virtual Functions (VF) and Physical Functions (PF) of SR-IOV simultaneously.
It would allow GPUs like the AMD S7150(x2) to be used in Hyper-V based VDI scenarios.

  7. Powershell Direct for Azure VMs

Support powershell direct to VMs running on Azure.

How are we going to fix ip problems on Azure VM running windows 2016 nano if they dont have console and if the network is not configured?

  11. Windows 2016 + Win10 Ent VM/Client + RemoteFX => DPI setting not preserved

Host is Win2016 TP4, with Win10Ent VM, and Win10Ent client. RemoteFX enabled, set to 4K resolution with 1GB vram. DPI on Win10 client is 350%, but RDP to Win10Ent VM, DPI setting not preserved. Also cannot open Display Settings within VM - the app crashed and disappeared so can't change DPI within VM. Disabling RemoteFX resolves this issue.

  12. Dynamic Memory free memory driver locked improvments.

In our environment we have many machines setup using dynamic memory. It seems when we need to do 8GB startup memory for applications so they can register 8GB of memory and we set minimum memory lower say 1GB and our max memory to 8GB we end up with a machine using 7.5GB of Memory @ all times. The memory is being used by the driver locked portion of memory. I know this is as designed. But I have profiled the machine and see it never gets close to 7.5GB of memory on startup. So why does it act like it…

  13. Allow PowerShell Direct to use certificate auth, ie SSH Key's

It would be use to have an option to allow ssh key type functionality to authenticate for PowerShell Direct. Also don't limit this to Windows only or just Windows 10 / Server 2016, olders OS's should be included.

  14. Hyper-V VM Console Tree

How about adding a VM tree to the Hyper-V Manager MMC so that we can select VM's in the left pane and connect to and see their consoles in the right pane, similar to the VM "tree" that exists in the VMware vSphere GUI client.

  16. Reduce window chrome for Hyper-V VM

Running a VM in Hyper-V with either Enhanced Session or Virtual Machine connection has a LOT of chrome on the UI. And it's a permanent frame you're stuck with, unless you full screen.

My idea: minimize the chrome on the interface, or all customization on a VM level. Perhaps I don't want to display the power off or shut down buttons on a certain VM.

Alternately, collapsible UI elements would be a plus. I constantly run Windows 8.1 and 7 VMs, and on a modern wide screen display, I'm losing a big chunk of viewable area due to how big…

  17. Isolate replication traffic.

There should be an option to chose the physical NIC or team one would want to send the Replication traffic thru while using kerberos for authentication. It can be achieved while using certificate based replication. but not in an AD environment.

  18. Powershell module for the Docker engine

The existing Docker CLI didn't look as intuitive as Powershell. There should be a Powershell module to manage the Docker engine as well.

  19. Error if you try to make a VM in a non-existent Directory

Found a weird situation. Imagine that you've got your Hyper-V settings set to default new VMs to a non-existent directory.

If you begin to create a VM and click Finish at any point during the process, you'll get a bizarre error of 'Could not initialize VM'.

I've solved the situation by creating the directory first, and I can't seem to recreate the error, but the message could be a bit better. The error code was 0x8000003.

  20. granular selection for Processor Compatibility

It would be great to select which Instruction extensions should be filtered.

Scenario: Customer has Haswell CPUs in the servers and in one point he will add new servers, but they will have Broadwell architecture... There are just few extensions, but if customer enables Processor Compatibility, all usefull extensions such as AES are filtered out. It would be great to filter just the difference...
