Remove paging files from Windows guests or add "No Paging File" mode
Paging files on guests seem outdated when you have hosts with huge memory pools and dynamic memory allocation. The main problem is that paging file activity deltas generate an inordinate amount of replication traffic. Many experts recommend moving paging files to a separate VHDX and excluding that disk from replication, but that can cause failover issues. Please reevaluate whether a "No Paging File" mode could be added to Windows. Tags: pagefile, page file, paging file, swap file.
Hi. It's already possible to disable the paging file in all versions of Windows (run SYSDM.CPL --> Advanced --> Performance | Settings --> Advanced --> Change).
Maybe I am misunderstanding what you are requesting, though?
I belive we can remove pagefile today, and it's not a good idea. Memory is still more expensive than hard disk.
But i do think there can be some host based replacement for pagefile. Although not ideal, the temporary disk like azure can solve a lot of problem.
