I'm a Program Manager on the Hyper-V Team. In Window's server 2016, the Remote Desktop team made changes to RDSH to have better support for GPUs for both bare metal RDSH servers as well as those running in a VM when using GPU's pass in via Discrete Device Assignment (a new Hyper-V feature in WS 2016). Due to the nature of RemoteFX vGPU, these changes won't apply. Also note that the resource scheduling of the sessions against the GPU will be limited to what the hardware vendor provides, as such, we recommend trying the configuration out yourself to ensure it will address your user's needs and scenarios (Currently the implementation will also only take advantage of a single GPU).

To enable support of the GPU on Bare Metal or with a DDA GPU, you need to enable the following group policy:
    · Inside the guest
    · Open gpedit.msc
    · Navigate the tree:
    · Computer Configuration
    · Administrator Templates
    · Windows Components
    · Remote Desktop Services
    · Remote Desktop Session Host
    · Remote Session Environment
    · Use the hardware default graphics adapter for all Remote Desktop Services sessions
    Set to Enabled and reboot
