  2. Hyper-V VM Console Tree

How about adding a VM tree to the Hyper-V Manager MMC so that we can select VM's in the left pane and connect to and see their consoles in the right pane, similar to the VM "tree" that exists in the VMware vSphere GUI client.

  3. Windows 2016 + Win10 Ent VM/Client + RemoteFX => DPI setting not preserved

Host is Win2016 TP4, with Win10Ent VM, and Win10Ent client. RemoteFX enabled, set to 4K resolution with 1GB vram. DPI on Win10 client is 350%, but RDP to Win10Ent VM, DPI setting not preserved. Also cannot open Display Settings within VM - the app crashed and disappeared so can't change DPI within VM. Disabling RemoteFX resolves this issue.

  4. Dynamic Memory free memory driver locked improvments.

In our environment we have many machines setup using dynamic memory. It seems when we need to do 8GB startup memory for applications so they can register 8GB of memory and we set minimum memory lower say 1GB and our max memory to 8GB we end up with a machine using 7.5GB of Memory @ all times. The memory is being used by the driver locked portion of memory. I know this is as designed. But I have profiled the machine and see it never gets close to 7.5GB of memory on startup. So why does it act like it…

  5. Allow PowerShell Direct to use certificate auth, ie SSH Key's

It would be use to have an option to allow ssh key type functionality to authenticate for PowerShell Direct. Also don't limit this to Windows only or just Windows 10 / Server 2016, olders OS's should be included.

  6. Reduce window chrome for Hyper-V VM

Running a VM in Hyper-V with either Enhanced Session or Virtual Machine connection has a LOT of chrome on the UI. And it's a permanent frame you're stuck with, unless you full screen.

My idea: minimize the chrome on the interface, or all customization on a VM level. Perhaps I don't want to display the power off or shut down buttons on a certain VM.

Alternately, collapsible UI elements would be a plus. I constantly run Windows 8.1 and 7 VMs, and on a modern wide screen display, I'm losing a big chunk of viewable area due to how big…

  7. Isolate replication traffic.

There should be an option to chose the physical NIC or team one would want to send the Replication traffic thru while using kerberos for authentication. It can be achieved while using certificate based replication. but not in an AD environment.

  8. Powershell module for the Docker engine

The existing Docker CLI didn't look as intuitive as Powershell. There should be a Powershell module to manage the Docker engine as well.

  9. Error if you try to make a VM in a non-existent Directory

Found a weird situation. Imagine that you've got your Hyper-V settings set to default new VMs to a non-existent directory.

If you begin to create a VM and click Finish at any point during the process, you'll get a bizarre error of 'Could not initialize VM'.

I've solved the situation by creating the directory first, and I can't seem to recreate the error, but the message could be a bit better. The error code was 0x8000003.

  10. Support of HDX Protocol

Can you please add HDX Protocol to the virtualizatin so that it is possible to use the existing Hardware from VDI-In-A-Box with Microsoft vitualization because VIAB does not longer get updates?

  12. Copy-VMFile -FileSource

For copying files from the VM over VMBus the Copy-VMFile CmdLet should have also CopyFileSourceType 'Client' for the Parameter -FileSource.

  13. Folder organisation in Failover Cluster Manager and Hyper V. As seen in VM Ware.

I would like to see the ability so that we can create folders insdie of Failover Cluster Manger, or Hyper V. This will help to enable us to organise our VMs accorinding to specific roles. We have around 300 VMs, and it's extremely difficult to differentiate between them all.

VM Workstation has this feature, and it makes admiinistration so much easier. I think the ability to create named folders to hold your VMs is well overdue.

  15. Search VM in Hyper-V Manager

Suppose you have 100s of VM in multiple Hyper-V servers and all are attached to the same manager. searching of a perticular VM to connect to becomes cumbersome and a search option should be given

  16. Live Storage Migration of Shared VHDX

We make heavy use of live storage migrations in order to move data between different storage devices for upgrades, maintenance, additional space, performance, etc.

We want to use clustered VMs to improve HA for our most critical systems, but requiring downtime on the system in order to move the data volume limits what systems we can use this with.

  17. Ask confirmation on consequence of action, not on the action it self.

In hyperv manager, I can choose a action, and I will be asked for confirmation of the action, eg. delete or apply checkpoint. I want to be asked confirmation on the consequence, eg, delete:" The server "xxxx" will keep on running, no data will be lost. After the deletion, the server cannot return to this checkpoint. Delete checkpoint?", instead something like "Realy delete?". If I am sure, I will NOT read the text anyway, but as a (uncertain) beginner sysop, I DO want to know what I am to be causing.

  18. Unifing creation of folders

    1. Create VM from VMM create different folder view, than Create from Cluster or Hyper-V

    2. When create VM from Hyper-V or Cluster you only specify path for VM without VMname
When you move VM to different server you have to specify path with VMName - please let's be more consistent

    3. Moving VM Storage from Cluster require Drag-n-Drop files - it should work the same like on moving directly on Hyper-V

  19. Shared VHDX sector size mistmach

Right now if you create a shared VHDX and there's a mismatch between the physical/logical sector size between the physical volume and the VHDX, Hyper-V lets you mount the VHDX but the initialization of the disk fails in the guest with a generic IO error. It would be nice to have some sort of validation done by Hyper-V or that it would support the various sector size for shared VHDX no matter what.

    See the following article:

    http://martinhannemann.com/shared-vhdx-on-storage-spaces/

One of our goal was to convert an existing file server VM into a guest cluster but because of this we either…

  20. Increase checkpoint AVHDX blocksize

Now, block size of AVHDX made by checkpoint is 2MB. Less than 8MB could not perform Slab Consolidation from guest.
