  1. Work Folders Hardening

Currently Work Folders allows us to Encrypt data on the client device. This is a nice feature, the data within the Work Folder on the client device is encrypted. However, at any point in time, a user can Right Click their Work folder and "Remove Enterprise Control" at which point data is unencrypted. Also, at any point in time a user can open the properties of a file and choose to remove encryption. We do not want users to be able to remove encryption, if we chose to encrypt the contents of the work folders it should remain encrypted. This…

  2. Remote Wipe Capabilities in Work Folders

The Remote Wipe feature is only supported with Intune. If all it does is revoke the key and not actually wipe any data, why do we need to purchase and deploy Intune MDM just to access this feature? Work Folders should include a revoke feature without needing Intune. We need way to revoke access to the data when a user reports their laptop or device is stolen. There are tons of sync utilities around that allow us to securely sync a client with server over WAN, but the reason we like Work Folders is because we do not need to…

  3. Work Folders Client side awareness of Quota and FSRM

Currently if we enable quota for Work Folders the client side UI will still all available space on the server.
It would be good if the client is aware of the quota and can display space available based on quota value and perhaps even UI warning/information based on space available.

If FSRM have file screening available and you add a file that is not allowed then you will only see a access denied when syncing.
It would be good if the client could understand the settings and inform the user when file is added or at least better information from…

  4. Simple 2 Node cluster config

Let me paint this simple scenario: I have two servers, each with local disks attached to a RAID controller. Based on those servers I want to create a highly available, resiliant file server.
The simple solution would be: Use either Storage Spaces Direct or Storage Replica. Unfortunately both options are not available right now.
S2D fails a) because of the use of a RAID controller and b) because of the use of only 2 servers.
Replica fails because I either have no automatic failover (server 2 server mode) or I don't have disks that support persistent reservation (which is required…

  5. Block level sync for Work Folder files

Currently work folder sync on file level.
If you open a file and make one change the hole file will be synced over to the server.
It would benefit lan/wan if work folders could perform only block level sync so only the changes in the files get copied over to server and other devices.

  7. Multi-Tenancy for Service Providers

Work Folders really provides a great enterprise like scalability at the same time addressing requirements from any customer segments. Many service providers are interested in developing solutions around WorkFolders where they can serve multiple tenants from their Datacenters. However, more guidance is required on how to manage multi-tenancy, challenges, sync issues in low bandwidth scenarios, and any other guidance will be extremely helpful. With storage costs declining, Hosters and Service Providers are eager to provide these services to customers thereby reducing capital expenses for their customers

  8. Simple change the size of the system partition

Forever you Need third Party Tools too easy enlarge or reduze the size of the System Partition. I think it`s time too integrate this in a easy way into the Basic Server Disk Management. (Also if there is no space next to the System Partition)

  9. Expand Basic volume to the begin

The expand of a partition on a basic volume (expand to the end of disk, expand to rigth) is a fine thing. But we need in some cases an expand to the begin off the Basic volume (expand to left).
The possible way convert the Basic volume to a dynamic volume and then consolditate/merge first part of volume (from begin of disk to the begin of the second partition) changed the Basic volume permanent to a dynamic volume (not our favorite).

It should be possible (and simple?) expand a partition to the left side
    Please do it!

    Example.

  10. Storage Replica and Storage Spaces Direct Were Killed By Licensing

The licensing announced in Dec 2016 ( http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/server-cloud/products/windows-server-2016/ ) for WS2016 killed Storage Replica and S2D before GA. It makes absolutely no financial sense to deploy these features if Datacenter is required. It would be cheaper (and an easier sell) to go with the incumbent non-commodity hardware solutions that S2D and SR were meant to replace. The math is easy.

  11. disk error ID7 on a storage server, help us find the disk....

At the moment we have to delve in the registry and understand how SCSI enumerates devices. What a mess.
Somehow we need to be able to easily link the harddisk mentioned in the event log with a real disk that needs to be changed. (put the serial number in the event log?)

  12. IOP's - u need 2 look @ this in more details

    Windows-Feedback:?contextid=67&feedbackid=a770e43b-c1b3-4792-b825-78eada1921f0&form=1&src=2

Microsoft is not taking this iop's this seriously, and most of the time it's pointed out that windows is the problem, but windows was never written for this kind of scenario, yet Microsoft have not step up to address this problem, they just depend on others to find solution to this problem.

  13. Enable Folder-Redirection custom folders [+]

Please give up the option to enable folder re-direction on any folder we need to re-direct.

and remember to make sure any folder we re-direct, not included in Roaming Profiles or "Included Folders"

    Thanks.

  14. Enable Roaming Profiles "Include folders"

You have "Excluded folder" options in User Roaming Profiles, you also need the "Included folder" options as well.

    Thanks.

  15. Ship RAM Disk with Windows Server

I would like Windows Server 2016 to ship with an option to install a RAM Drive that can be configured to load as a device driver upon operating system boot.

This could be used for a variety of reasons, but my primary case is for optimizing SQL Server workloads. (I might that I use a RAM disk with my Windows 8.1 computer for the TEMP and IE TEMP directories, which is a great way of clearing out cookies, malware, etc as I just reboot the computer)

    Use / Business case:
In earlier versions of SQL Server you were able to…

  16. Storage Spaces - Make Slabs exposed in GUI/Posh Tool

It would be great to expose where slabs are physically located. It would be great to see where the data actually is (Write-Back cache, data slabs).
This would be really useful to know where is the performance bottleneck, to investigate misconfigurations..
    Something like described here http://blogs.msdn.com/b/b8/archive/2012/01/05/virtualizing-storage-for-scale-resiliency-and-efficiency.aspx

  18. Support Reallocation of VHDs on Storage Spaces

The struggle is real, my friends. When you have a storage space with 4 disks and create a new virtual disk with parity over all those 4 physical disks, the data is spread out as you'd expect. But if you run low on space and you add another disk, the data already on the vhd cant benefit from the new disk. You have to create a new virtual disk and copy the data from the old to the new one. The problem is described here:

    http://blogs.technet.com/b/askcore/archive/2013/12/18/cannot-extend-simple-virtual-disk-in-windows-server-2012-r2.aspx

So please let us edit a virutal disk and add more physical disk the…

  19. Allow Persistent NFS Mounts in NFS Client

Allow for Persistent Mounts at the OS level for the NFS Client instead of making the mount like a mapped drive that is done in user context.
