  2. Windows Admin Center Storage Migration should be able to use domain accounts

The cutover portion of the storage migration appears to use local accounts. We follow the CIS baselines and network access/remote login with local accounts is disabled. It would be nice to be able to use a domain account that has local admin rights to do the cutover.

  3. Support ReFS Volumes with FSRM

I'd like to see FSRM support ReFS Volumes, mainly for the classification and reporting functions.

  5. Get-Volume displays exFAT file system type incorrectly as 'Unknown'

    Bug:

When a removable drive is formatted with exFAT, the Get-Volume cmdlet incorrectly displays the FileSystemType property as 'Unknown.' The FileSystem property correctly shows 'exFAT', it is the FileSystemType property (two different properties) which incorrectly says 'Unknown.'

    To Reproduce:

Format a USB flash drive with exFAT, then run:

    Get-Volume

    Get-Volume | Select *

    Observed On:

Windows 10 Pro version 1703 with PoSh version 5.1.15063.413.

  6. The storage pool does not have sufficient eligible resources for the creation of the specified virtual disk

I have a 3 node cluster setup and validated for Storage Spaces Direct. Each node has two 1TB SSDs and two 4TB HDDs (total 6 of each) all of which are cleaned of partitions and data (running on Dell HBA330s). All nodes have the required networking in places, are joined in a cluster and are running Server 2016 TP5 with the latest updates. Running cluster validation for Storage Spaces direct comes back with only the warning about 3 node cluster vs 4 (I only want mirrors, so 3 should work).

The problem is no matter what I do I cannot…

  7. Chkdsk /Scan Has a Bug

The traditional read only chkdsk is finding errors and then recommends running the new chkdsk /scan function. When I run the new /scan function it says there is no problems. Which is it? Details can be found on this Technet post.

  8. Storage migration service faster Transfer delta sync

Would be nice to have a faster Delta Sync for the Storage Migration Service. It takes many hours to run the delta sync.

  9. Storage Migration Service Cutover Fails on "We can test token filter policy on the destination computer"

During testing of doing a storage migration from a Windows Server 2008R2 to a Windows Server 2019. Everything works successfully until we reach the cutover phase. During Validation the following failure is listed.

"We can test token filter policy on the destination computer"
    Fail: Access is denied

  10. Storage Replica across domains or to non-domain joined hosts

It would be great if we could expand storage replica so that it works across domains or from a domain joined PC to a non domain joined PC.

  11. Allow admins to adjust the priority/resources used to finish background storage spaces jobs

It is super frustrating how much 'potential' performance storage spaces background jobs leave un-utilized. It would be great to be able to set a cluster-wide setting that would adjust how much of the system resources would be dedicated to these background jobs. As it is today one of the major limiting factors in rolling out updates across a large cluster is waiting for the repair jobs to finish after a reboot.

  13. Fix Specify size of Virtual Disk bug

On the Specify the size of the virtual disk screen often if you select Maximum size it will fail due to a math / rounding error. The reported error is The storage pool does not have sufficient eligible resources for the creation of the specified virtual disk. However if you just shrink size by 1-2 GB it completes properly.

  14. Bring back LastSuccessfulSync

LastSuccessfulSync was removed from Windows 2016 version of Work Folders. This is used in reports to find clients that have fallen out of sync. Or provide an alternative way to monitor when clients quit syncing.

  15. DFS Replication and Deduplication Integration

The deduplication feature makes Windows Server an attractive OS to use for a backup repository. There is just one issue...replication. One could use DFS Replication to replicate the backup files off-site. But, DFS-R rehydrates the files, and then uses it's own compression, to transmit them. This requires allocating space to DFS-R for staging. Plus, the DFS-R compression is likely not as efficient as deduplication.

It would be great if DFS-R could be configured to replicate the already deduplicated blocks. This would provide the most efficient trasmission while eliminating the need for separate staging for DFS-R (in this use case).

  16. VM Balance SiteAware And StrechedCluster

I think maybe VM Balance Should aware SiteAware and storage SiteAware
if VM Balace can aware, the StrechedCluster can autoBalance in
    localsite
if not can aware, can not use vm balance for StrechedCluster, because may balance will move an local vm to another site ,will make csv redirect

  18. Have a file extension whitelist for deduplication

I'd like to specify only certain file types to be deduplicated, as our users tend to copy around big movie files, but I still want Windows search to work for regular files (which are also small enough to not bother with deduplicating).

See also the folder whitelist https://windowsserver.uservoice.com/forums/295056-storage/suggestions/7961025-de-duplication-feature-should-be-enabled-on-direct and https://windowsserver.uservoice.com/forums/295056-storage/suggestions/17888647-make-windows-search-service-work-with-data-dedupli

  19. Get-AzureStorSimpleAccessControlRecord PowerShell cmdlet sends a whole collection through the pipeline instead of individual items

This behavior is not in line with how PowerShell cmdlets are expected to behave, and causes problems with filtering operations based on Where-Object, because the filter is unexpectedly applied to the whole collection as opposed to individual items. For details, see http://stackoverflow.com/a/42510370/45375

  20. Grant-DFSNAccess requires GUI/cmd intervention to work

As detailed in this KB article from March 2014 (https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/kb/2938148) the Grant-DFSNAccess cmdlet requires use of the GUI to work, or there is a workaround of using the old dfsutil command instead.

Is it possible to have this fixed so that we can use native PowerShell to configure the DFS environment?
