Have a file extension whitelist for deduplication
I'd like to specify only certain file types to be deduplicated, as our users tend to copy around big movie files, but I still want Windows search to work for regular files (which are also small enough to not bother with deduplicating).
See also the folder whitelist https://windowsserver.uservoice.com/forums/295056-storage/suggestions/7961025-de-duplication-feature-should-be-enabled-on-direct and https://windowsserver.uservoice.com/forums/295056-storage/suggestions/17888647-make-windows-search-service-work-with-data-dedupli

Thank you for your comment. Having a file extension whitelist could be useful for other reasons as well, but for your use case, you could use the existing minimum file size parameter on a Dedup volume (Get/Set DedupVolume) to achieve the outcome. Also it sounds like what you really want is this feature: https://windowsserver.uservoice.com/forums/295056-storage/suggestions/17888647-make-windows-search-service-work-with-data-dedupli so be sure to vote for that one too (would be great evidence to get the Windows Search team to care about this scenario).
