  1. Distributed File System

Given that Nano Server already has supported for deduplication, ReFS and file sharing, it would be nice to have support for integrating it into DFS so that data can be replicated between Nano Server based file servers that are hosting redundant copies of file shares.

  2. Support for Virtual Fibre Channel

Should be able to create a virtual SAN within Hyper-V and add virtual fibre channel adapters to VM's

  3. iSCSI Support

In SMB environments, I always setup my hypervisors to use commodity NAS devices for shared storage of VMs. It would be great to have iSCSI support added to Nano Server to configure with the Compute role.

  5. Diskless Nano Server (PXE Boot)

Given how small Nano Server is, it could potentially fully fit in RAM allowing diskless scenarios (boot over PXE) where a small chunk of system persistent data (i.e. Certificate Store, local secrets, logs, etc.) can be stored on a remote VHDX accessed over the network. That could make the OS run faster and become more resilient to system storage issues. Also it could allow moving the OS instance from one server to another (by reassigning the boot image to another MAC on PXE), in case of a hardware failure.
