  1. [Firewall] Improvements on the Firewall module

In the settings of a rule:
    1. I'd like to be able to change the local/remote IP addresses
    2. I'd like to be able to change the service

  2. [Firewall] Disable/Enable firewall

Would like to be able to toggle the status for the firewall. Right now I can see whether the firewall is enabled/disabled for each profile, but I can't actually change that setting. I also can't enable firewall logging from Honolulu

  3. [Firewall] Windows Firewall - Show content of firewall log

    • Provide ability to open Windows Firewall log file(s) to view blocked traffic (eg: "Open Windows Firewall Log" button/action).

    • Provide ability to visualize in Honolulu or download log file to view locally.

    • Nice to have: Provide color highlighting to differentiate dropped traffic from allowed traffic.

  4. [Firewall] Windows Firewall - Show active rules

Provide (missing) view to display the current/active Windows Firewall rules. (On par with the "Monitoring" node in the Windows Firewall MMC snapin).

The view must include "SourceType" to show the origin of a Windows Firewall Rule (specific Group Policy vs Local setting).

  5. [Firewall] Toggle default Firewall rules

In the firewall option, could we have a toggle to show only custom rules?
    Or only enabled rules?

  6. [NEW Tool] [SDN] Datacenter firewall

Please enable controls for SDN Datacenter firewall management in Honolulu. I have many customers who are interested in a GUI based interface for enumerating and managing the Datacenter firewall rules and ACLs

  7. [Connections] Add Proxy functionality for Honolulu

For Servers which are in an DMZ, Internet or behind a Firewall, it would be great to connect to those Systems over Web-Proxy.

  8. [Deployment] [Container] containerize

Make Honolulu available as a container image. This would be helpful for creation on semi-annual servers.

  10. firewall merge

When using a locked down Windows Firewall Policy. This is where rules are not merged with local rules Remote Desktop does not work by default via WAC. You have to create local firewall rules for remote desktop in addition to your group policy rules via PowerShell.

If an administrator account on a server is compromised these locked down Firewall Policies mean even an administrator cannot create new firewall rules.

  11. [Bug]Firewall Port

What URL / Ports does the Extension Manager need to access. The server I have this installed on can only have access to specific URL's and ports. I would like to get any new extensions but cannot until I can get the specific URL's and Ports allowed on our external firewall.

  12. ISSUE - WAC 2012 preview - Firewall - Configure Remote subnets

Affected build: Windows Admin Center 2012 Preview Build 1.3.2012.11003
    Plugin name: Firewall
    plugin version: 1.87.0
    severity: high
    reproducible: x out of 5
    easy to fix: yes

Remotesubnets are a crucial feature of Windows firewall as per default incoming traffic is filtered in addition when not from the same subnet.

Configuring this via Powershell is not a very handy task as one need to read a hashtable and add new addresses.

Please add ability to configure new or existing networks in firewall rule.

see also (long standing request from 2017, and there are many good old ones that could need more…

  14. Server status in hosts list.

select all servers> manage as > Specify your credentials > error

WinRM cannot complete the operation. Verify that the specified computer name is valid, that the computer is accessible over the network, and that a firewall exception for the WinRM service is enabled and allows access from this computer. By default, the WinRM firewall exception for public profiles limits access to remote computers within the same local subnet.

which one? i tried few servers, it works, firewall open. So how i can know which one has a problem?

must be accessibility a status near each host in main list.

  15. [Firewall] Add ability to manage allowed subnets

Please add the ability to not only add firewall rules but also to specify the allowed subnets. This currently only possible with Powershell on Server Core and needs a lot of care as it is an array variable.

    Usecase:
Want to add exclusions for SQL Server that needs to be accessed from other VLANs.

Windows Admin Center - Windows Server 2019 Core - can't connect proxy even correct set netsh proxy... confirmed with "netsh winhttp show proxy" is correct but all connections go direct to firewall not proxy server... can't update extensions.... any suggestion?

  18. [Security] [Harden] Managed/Auto Server Hardening (JumpBox/PAW)

It would be nice to have a module for auto-hardening the servers for management by Honolulu ('jump-box' scenarios).

This would entail locking down settings on the remote/managed servers like inbound Firewall rules, WinRM endpoints, protocols/algorithms, credential delegation, PS Transcripting, etc.

The goal would be to harden the management channels used by Honolulu and ensure that they can only be accessed from authorised Honolulu gateways.

Having a way to automated this graphically at scale would remove one of the major hindrances to finally killing the server UI and using Server Core everywhere.

  19. SCVMM SDN and Windows Admin Center

It would be nice to support integration of WAC with SCVMM SDN. Until November 2019 I knew it was not supported due to different authentication method. No ETA existed back then to implement this AFAIK. I hope this gets implemented as admins have no tools to manage SDN when using SCVMM SDN. SCOM sdn mp may not always work (never worked for me) and will definitely not manage firewall rules even if it worked...

  20. Issue - Remote Desktop fails if default firewall rules are missing

Remote Desktop through WAC fails if the stock Remote Desktop firewall rules (Remote Desktop - Shadow (TCP-In);Remote Desktop - User Mode (TCP-In);Remote Desktop - User Mode (UDP-In)) are missing. We leverage a software-defined firewall product in our environment that manages the host firewall rules. This can be reproduced by deleting the rules and making an Any>3389 rule and attempting to RDP.
