  1. Roaming PowerShell profile using OneDrive

Most IT pros use multiple computers but can't have a consistent PowerShell experience across computers due to different versions of PS Profile. Keeping a single version of the profile updated and synchronized across computers adds management overhead.

    Solution:
    - Make the profile roaming using OneDrive. The following post shows how to synchronize the profile using OneDrive, but having this option out of the box would help.

    Nice to have:
    - Allow the user to choose default location for the PowerShell profile

Synchronize your PowerShell Profile with OneDrive

  3. PowerShell ISE Crashes after loading Winforms

When Winforms are used in PowerShell code, the ISE will eventually freeze/crash when idle (after form closed). This can happen as fast as 5 minutes but may take longer, time seems to be random. No issues occur when using Winforms via regular PowerShell console and using other IDEs (such as PowerGUI).

    Example code to reproduce:
    $Form = New-Object System.Windows.Forms.Form
    $Form.DataBindings.DefaultDataSourceUpdateMode = 0
    $Form.Text = "My Form"
    $Form.AutoSize = $true
    $Form.AutoSizeMode = "GrowAndShrink"
    $Form.StartPosition = "CenterScreen"
    $Form.MaximizeBox = $false
    $Form.FormBorderStyle = "FixedSingle"

    $Return = $Form.ShowDialog()

Note: It does appear the more form objects added, the more likely to crash, but can…

  4. Support basic line wrapping in ISE Script Pane

All IDE's support line wrapping inside the editor, except Powershell ISE (even Notepad has it)! This is useful, for example, when using ISE in a virtual machine console session, where the screen is often smaller than your screens actual resolution.

  5. Add to ISE "Export script as an exe" & also add a XAML editor to design GUI front ends for the exported scripts.

Add to the ISE a "Export/Compile script as an exe" feature & also add a XAML editor to design GUI front ends for the exported scripts.

It is free in VS2015 Community so why not incorporate it in the ISE?

  6. PowerShell ISE does not have the ability to restart the console independent of restarting the entire ISE

Restarting the Powershell process independent of the entire ISE would be a beneficial feature for ISE users during testing and debugging, to clear variables, sessions, scopes, classes, etc... If you are working in the ISE and have several script files open on the editor it is cumbersome to have to save files, restart the entire ISE application and reopen files etc...

  8. ISE should provide an option to restore previously opened files at startup

When ISE starts up, it should by default (make that configurable: always, prompt, never) restore all files that were open in the previous session.

It would be nice in PS ISE if when you have multiple files open, that you could drag the tabs at the top of the Script Pane window (i.e. the file names) to rearrange them. 12. $url = 'http://www.bloomberg.com/professional/downloads/'

    I believe I have a bug with Invoke-Webrequest.

    Or

    Invoke-WebRequest $url "

Using invoke-webREquest on that URL Hangs /restarts ISE for me.

    I am using powershell 4.0 on windows 7 Sp1 64 bit.

  13. ISE and performance of IntelliSense

I've been using ISE since PowerShell 3, now on 5. And to be perfectly honest, the most infuriating thing about ISE is how slow its IntelliSense is.

When I am typing cmdlets or functions and I want to use tab completion, it often takes many seconds for ISE to react, displaying "Tab completion" at the status bar. And then it does nothing, seemingly times out. It is not uncommon that I need to use tab completion several times to get tab completion working on a cmdlet or function name.

This problem repeats itself when filling out parameters. When a cmdlet…

  14. Windows PowerShell ISE: Add ability to save/load session state

It would be great if PS ISE had the ability to allow you to save and restore all of your open tabs and files. Ideally, there would be an option to automatically save the session when ISE is closed, and automatically load it when ISE is started.

The PowerShell Team has blogged about how to save/load your session by writing an add-on (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/powershell/archive/2010/06/05/export-and-import-powershell-ise-opened-files.aspx), and…

  15. Windows PowerShell ISE: Double click should select entire cmdlet/variable name

Regression: Yes, this happens in all previous versions

    Problem Description:
When you double click on a cmdlet or variable name in the PS IDE v3 it doesn't select the entire cmdlet/variable name. Unlike other text editors, PS IDE is meant for working with PowerShell code, so it should make some assumptions to make it more PowerShell friendly.

    Example 1: Get-Help
    - if you double click on Help, only "Help" is selected, but is should select "Get-Help".

  16. Better Color Theme Customization

Currently we can change the colors of backgrounds and syntax highlighting in both the editor pane and the console pane, but there are several elements that we can't theme such as region highlighting.

Region highlighting occurs when you mouse over the outlining near the left-hand side of the editor pane and a foldable region of code is highlighted. When I use a dark editor theme this region highlighting is extremely glaring and whites out all of the punctuation in a script. It would be great to have the capability to theme this along with other elements in the ISE such…

  18. Script Pane on the Left

We currently have 3 pane configurations - Script Pane Top, Script Pane Right, and Script Pane Maximized. I'd like to see a Script Pane Left as well. If I'm testing code from a script and looking at the output in the console, it seems more natural to me to look from left to right rather than the reverse.
