  1. Collapsed region in dark mode is hardly visible

When using the dark theme in ISE, a collapsed region is hardly visible because the font color is black and the background darkblue. There is no way the set the colors for a collapse region in the theme editor.

  2. Windows PowerShell ISE: Double click should select entire cmdlet/variable name

    Votes from Connect: 20

    Frequency: Always Happens
Regression: Yes, this happens in all previous versions

    Problem Description:
When you double click on a cmdlet or variable name in the PS IDE v3 it doesn't select the entire cmdlet/variable name. Unlike other text editors, PS IDE is meant for working with PowerShell code, so it should make some assumptions to make it more PowerShell friendly.

    Example 1: Get-Help
    - if you double click on Help, only "Help" is selected, but is should select "Get-Help".

  3. ISE: Add support for "Copy Full Path" context menu command on script tabs

I often need the path name to the file I'm editing. In V3 I can hover the mouse over the tab and a tooltip will present the path. However, I usually need to provide this path to other commands (like cd or paste them into another window), and I currently have to hand-repeat it.

Right-Click on tab -> Copy Full Path is a great way to solve this; it's the same approach used by Visual Studio.

  4. #region / #endregion code folding tokens in ISE should not be case sensitive

    Problem Description:
I've been using #REGION/#ENDREGION tokens in my code for some time to trigger code folding in various editors (e.g. PowerShellPlus and PowerGUI). The new v3 ISE supports this too which is great--but it's case sensitive for some reason. I consider that a bug and would love to see it made case-insensitive.

  5. Would be better if the exit command in PowerShell ISE only closed the current tab

In PowerShell ISE, if you invoke the exit command, it closes the entire application regardless of how many tabs you have open. It would be better if the exit command simply closed the current tab (if you have multiple tabs open) or the entire application if you only have one runspace open. This would prevent accidentally closing runspaces that you wanted to go back to just because you used the all-too-familiar exit command.

Also, making this change would address this issue within PowerShell ISE: when you invoke exit, the Runspace.StateChanged event is only fired for the current/active runspace (tab), even…

  6. Windows PowerShell ISE: Caret and View do not jump to text being undone/redone

    Problem Description:
In the PS ISE v3 Script Pane, if you use the undo or redo commands (Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Y respectively), the caret does not jump to the text being undone/redone, and the view does not scroll to the text being undone/redone either. So if the text being changed is outside of the visible area, you don't know what changes are being undone/redone. This is a…

  7. Find in ISE needs to be able to wrap rather than stopping when it reaches the end of the file

Find in ISE starts from the cursor position and stops at the end of the file. This is extremely annoying behavior since to perform a full file search you need to move the cursor to the beginning of the file before beginning "Find".

Find needs the ability to find within an entire file from anywhere the search is started -- just like notepad++, notepad2, and any other modern text editor.

  8. Tab completion should complete Verb then Noun

With hundreds of CmdLets, tab-completion becomes arduous. This could have a new mode that's two step, so I type:

    Reg [tab]

Which completes "Register-" and waits for more input.

    Then I type:

    ps [tab]

Which completes the rest to make "Register-PSRepository".

  9. Better Color Theme Customization

Currently we can change the colors of backgrounds and syntax highlighting in both the editor pane and the console pane, but there are several elements that we can't theme such as region highlighting.

Region highlighting occurs when you mouse over the outlining near the left-hand side of the editor pane and a foldable region of code is highlighted. When I use a dark editor theme this region highlighting is extremely glaring and whites out all of the punctuation in a script. It would be great to have the capability to theme this along with other elements in the ISE such…

  12. Windows PowerShell ISE: Implement a Save All files feature and tie it to Ctrl+Shift+S

It would be great if PS ISE had a "Save All" files feature to save all open, unsaved files. 13. ISE and performance of IntelliSense

I've been using ISE since PowerShell 3, now on 5. And to be perfectly honest, the most infuriating thing about ISE is how slow its IntelliSense is.

When I am typing cmdlets or functions and I want to use tab completion, it often takes many seconds for ISE to react, displaying "Tab completion" at the status bar. And then it does nothing, seemingly times out. It is not uncommon that I need to use tab completion several times to get tab completion working on a cmdlet or function name.

This problem repeats itself when filling out parameters. When a cmdlet…

  14. BUG: Out-GridView hangs in ISEP 5.1.1

In ISE Preview 5.1.1 (running on Windows 10.10586.164, FWIW), this hangs:

    "foo" | out-gridview

Then if you hit Ctrl+C, ISEP says "Stopping"... forever.

  15. Script Pane on the Left

We currently have 3 pane configurations - Script Pane Top, Script Pane Right, and Script Pane Maximized. I'd like to see a Script Pane Left as well. If I'm testing code from a script and looking at the output in the console, it seems more natural to me to look from left to right rather than the reverse.

  18. $url = 'http://www.bloomberg.com/professional/downloads/'

    I believe I have a bug with Invoke-Webrequest.

    $url = 'http://www.bloomberg.com/professional/downloads/'

    Invoke-WebRequest -UseBasicParsing -Uri $url "

    Or

    Invoke-WebRequest $url "

Using invoke-webREquest on that URL Hangs /restarts ISE for me.

    I am using powershell 4.0 on windows 7 Sp1 64 bit.

Name : Windows PowerShell ISE Host
    Version : 4.0

  20. Support basic line wrapping in ISE Script Pane

All IDE's support line wrapping inside the editor, except Powershell ISE (even Notepad has it)! This is useful, for example, when using ISE in a virtual machine console session, where the screen is often smaller than your screens actual resolution.
