  2. There is no single list of the meaning of each item shown by Get-MpPreference and Get-MpComputerStatus

No single page shows the meanings of all the parameters. The descriptions are all over the place. Many people learn about Defender by listing everything with Get-MpPreference and Get-MpComputerStatus and then trying to determine the meaning of each item. It's especially a problem when new parameters just show up

  4. No mention of minimum version for any cmdlet Or module in documentation

I don't see any mention of the minimum version in the documentation page for any cmdlet Or module. Don't you guys think that would save some hassle for developers to check if a particular cmdlet exist in a particular powershell version when writing code/scripts ?

I was checking for a zip extraction cmdlet and happy that I found a cmdlet - 'Extract-Archive', but (just before sending it off to some customer [sigh of relief] for whom I was writing the script) I searched and found later that it is not there in Powershell 3.0 (and customer has PS 3.0)

    Wouldn't…

  8. Suggestion: Rich PowerShell help / documentation

    Here are the facts:

    1. PowerShell documentation and help pages are produced in Markdown on GitHub

    2. They are converted to plain text before being delivered to the end-user. They don't look good.

    3. PowerShell is fully capable of displaying Markdown, via the Show-Markdown cmdlet.

So, I suggest that PowerShell help and documentation pages should be delivered to the end-user in untouched Markdown format. Even without a terminal app that renders VT100 code, Markdown looks VERY good.

  10. why make installing PowerShell modules dependent on something ridiculous like Nuget which is impossible to install?

Why make installing PowerShell modules dependent on something ridiculous like Nuget which is impossible to install? After 2 hours, I am still unable to install the reportingservices module, due to these dependencies. NOT ALL SYSTEMS ARE CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET!!!

  13. Installation does NOT show the [reload] button

Installing VSCode for Powershell Dev - I followed the instructions in
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/scripting/components/vscode/using-vscode?view=powershell-7
and got stucked at step (2.f) -- where it says after the INSTALL, the INSTALL button turns to RELOAD. Theh to click RELOAD.
What should I do? Would be highly grateful for some direction.

  14. Get-Windowsupdatlog does not work at all when the system is not connected to internet and your documentation is useless

Please bring back the old WindowsUpdateLog we had before. It was usefull and helpful. Get-WindowsUPdateLog on the other hand works great if you are connected to the internet. But if not, you get huge problems. There are multiple documentations not helping at all, because you are permanently keeping on changing anything. Please provide a useful documentation, provide the files we need to get the windowsupdatelog readable.

  16. How to get the future pwd from a profile script?

I was pointed to this forum due to
    https://github.com/PowerShell/PowerShell/issues/10568

I want to start a PS shell from the explorer context menu on different folders.
At PS startup a tool should be configured with the actual folder path.
I have tried a init / profile script for this purpose, but the pwd of the script is not the folder path: I get C:\WINDOWS\System32.
I have also checked variables but non of the available values is set to the (future) folder path.
How can I get the folder path in this case?
After the shell is started the correct folder path is…

  18. Every Page MUST contain powershell compatability version information

I am working with multiple versions of powershell and therefore need to know which features are available with which version. This information is never seemingly displayed on any help pages, and therefore makes things very difficult

  20. 'Get-Help about_Functions_Advanced_Parameters' documentation is incorrect

The information that's shown on 'Get-Help aboutFunctionsAdvanced_Parameters' under 'ValidatePattern' is incorrect. It tells us that the "[0-9][0-9][0-9][0-9]" pattern means the parameter value must be a four-digit number, but it should say the parameter value must INCLUDE a four-digit number, as the pattern isn't starting with '^' and ending with '$'.

    So, for example, '12345 -match "[0-9][0-9][0-9][0-9]"' is true, but '12345' obviously isn't a four-digit but a five-digit number.
