Server 2019 - Do not force updates to be installed automatically
On Server 2019 you should have the option to see the newly released updates, select which ones to install, and be able to manually install them when desired in all situations. Updates should not be automatically installed.

Windows Malicious Software Removal November 2019 reinstall
I have posted on Technet forums about this as well: Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool November 2019 reinstalling each time I run Windows Update on Windows Server 2019 (build 17763.864 ) . It ia not re-downloaded, just re-installed (re-ran) Is this a bug? I guess so, I hope the machine is not infected with some nasty thing.

Why is Windows update always the top reason people don't like Microsoft Windows?
Hi Ahmed MALEK,
Thanks for your reply. Since Microsoft decides to deliver cumulative updates only(I don't know, maybe in these two years), I guess the…

Fix Windows updates!
Does anyone else out there feel the same as I do about Microsoft and their completely broken update system.
I am at my wits end with these huge cumulative updates that just fail 90% of the time on every Server and Windows 10 PC. I have to spend so much time manually installing these updates and it is got to the point where I am beginning to really hate Microsoft! I used to be a loyal fan of their tech but my patience is now at an all time low.
Sort it Microsoft, tell your update team that they have…

make "scheduled install day/time" GPO setting work for server 2016
the "Scheduled install day" and "scheduled install time" group policy settings under "computer/administrative templates/windows components/windows update/configure automatic updates" are being ignored by server 2016 in favor of "active hours." having active hours on servers is utterly ridiculous. I need certain servers to reboot in a certain order only on Saturday nights.

Windows update troubleshooter (server 2016)
Windows update troubleshooter (fully patched server 2016) using the built-in tool always reports 0x80070057 "potential windows update database error detected" If you run the tool available here then no errors are reported. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4027322/windows-update-troubleshooter

Allow adding a shortcut for Windows Update UI on Server 2016
In Windows Server 2012 R2 or earlier you could create a shortcut to the Windows Update section of the control panel. In 2016 you can no longer (that I could find) do this. While most all of our updating/patching is automated sometimes and for a few servers we manually update.
Having this shortcut saves me from having to search for "windows update" every time I need to go to use it.
Can we add a method for creating a shortcut to put on the task bar or on the desktop to Windows Update? If it's already available how does one…

Please implement effective filtering options in Microsoft Update Catalog Search
I am missing to have more options than just a very common keyword search in Microsoft Update Catalog.
setting up filters like OS version, branch, x86 / x64 and update categories AND date equal / greater than would be amazingly helpful to find a specific group of updates.
Admit it, the current search is not very helpful if you are NOT searching for a specific KB but a set of updates.
E.g. try to enlist all Windows 2003 Server Updates released after January 2017. Good luck, trying.

Change update behavior on Windows Server 2016
In server 2016 when downloading an update it also installs the same time (no option to only download), then the 12hour window begins, when this is over and time is outside worktimeframe (which is a somehow strange setting for a server) the server automatically reboots.
The same when I install something microsoft related during workhours which normaly has no effect on user experience, but if setup installs also a patch then the reboot countdown also starts.
Please change back to the old behavior where downloading updates and installing them where different tasks and also rebooting had to be user initiated.

More granular control of Windows Update policy scheduled install time.
When configuring the Windows Update Policy, you can only select the day and whole hours as scheduled install day. I would like to be able to configure hours and minutes (example 8 hrs and 15 minutes).
Also recurrencies like "every second tuesday of the month) would be beneficial.

Windows server should NOT decide when to reboot for windows updates!
we have designated maintenance windows for such things! It the OS decides i don't use the server at 09:00 and reboots for pending updates then there will be lots of upset people!
We generally install updates when we can then do the reboots in the maintenance window (as it's quite small on some servers)56 votes -
Windows Update - Restart services not full system
An update, security patch or otherwise should only require a restart of a service where possible not require an entire system restart for every update.

Update KB4057903 has a bug
Exchage within a Hyper-V VM with Windows Server 2012 r2: Update KB4057903 leads to an almost unresponsive server. I could reproduce the behaviour twice by deinstalling the update. Please, provide a new version of KB4057903 without the bug. Thanks.

Provide new Update KB4072650 and 4057903 or scrap it alltogether
The server works fine without the update. So why do we need it??

NoAutoRebootWithLoggedOffUsers - Windows Server OS
Considering the server availability, we administrators are not getting downtime as we desired. So, Microsoft should give the support for server OS to prevent the reboot the server in logged-off mode after windows update installation. I have a suggestion that I'm giving below. If it is possible, it is very helpful to the world of Windows administrators. Add the registry value in server at least in all available server operating systems
[HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU]
"NoAutoRebootWithLoggedOffUsers"=dword:00000001
