I see your point but we cannot compare CBS / dism based patching as we use it today, which usually allow rollbacks of any update without caring for the dependencies with a plain extract and replace all files" updates we had in Windows XP.

I agree however that dism / the Trusted Installerserices is comparibly slow even on my small test environment using 2 EVO 960 NVME in RAID 0.

The problem imho is that the trustedinstaller is not optimized for virtualized environment and causes very high cpu loads but is very limited with parallel IO.

if the dism process could be optimized for better multicore support and better usage of disk the update processes might be faster at all.

probably they do not list them as this might lead hackers to address vulnerabilities for unpatched yet systems.

There is still no change @MSFTs we aren't going to sit that out till 2020 when all affected OSes are unsupported, are we?

    Karl Wester-Ebbinghaus (@tweet_alqamar) commented  ·

I can still confirm that preview updates will be rolled out via WSUS if the category "Updates" is auto-acknowledged. This is a bad design, as this category does contain other more critical updates too.

"Anything CMD can do Powershell should be able to do. Powershell is just supposed to be able to do more than what CMD can. " Unfortunately that is not the case often enough I face the issue that using del /s /q does not work or similar commands using parameters and it forces me to issue cmd in ps to get back to working console.
on the other hand remove-childitem -recurse does not have the same result in some cases.

@Miho, I am happy to see that MS agreed with my idea and will bring upgrades for customers with SA, so your found message would no longer be completely inappropriate.

    Karl Wester-Ebbinghaus (@tweet_alqamar) commented  ·

this should not be a bug let business users participate with Windows Server 2016. WS2016 is based on Windows 10 1607, and business users should not be forced to migrate to another server version again (if they have Software Assurance)
Implement the SaaS known for Windows 10 for Windows 2016, too, instead of pending it to Windows NG.

    survey  ·  Zachary Alexander responded

We don’t own the creation of modules for operating system features. I’ll mark this as Survey so we can provide this information to the WU team, but you might also want to consider filing this in the Windows 10 Feedback Hub. Also, see the community-created PSWindowsUpdate link below :)

@Zachary can anyone have a look at my WSUS ideas? would be nice to have your feedback.
