Nice that they are saying there will be a SKU. Wish they would keep the Essentials role under Standard too. So convenient for managing desktop backups, Remote Web Access, etc.

Noticed in the process that re-activating hidden alerts also fails. The .NET downgrade doesn't fix this.
I logged this bug in February but the .NET incompatibility on 2012R2 Essentials goes back to at least October 2016 as I blogged here: https://www.mcbsys.com/blog/2016/10/cant-remove-essentials-computer/.
I can confirm that there are similar issues on Sever 2016 with the Essentials role after installing the May 2018 rollup with .NET 4.7.1, possibly earlier.Mark Berry, MCB Systems shared this idea ·
